Barcodes

Inventory Control Menu -> Sales Inventory/Rental Inventory -> Barcodes

Texada Web Stand-Alone Menu -> FL- Parts/FL- Assets -> Barcodes

Use this window to setup Barcodes for the product.
This is useful for point of sale operations to register the codes used by barcode scanners.
Multiple unique barcodes may be entered for each sales or rental product, using a maximum of 20 characters.
Because Barcodes need to be unique to a product a Barcode can match the same Product number but cannot be the same as any other rental or sales product number or any other barcode.

Barcodes may be used to enter a product number in the Sales Inventory and Rental Inventory screens and in all of the document entry programs such as Contracts, Counter Worksheet, Invoices, Reservations, W.O. Parts, etc.
When a scanner reads the barcode for a product, the corresponding product number is substituted on the document.

A flag in the Barcode Parameters settings of the Company Inventory Parameters can be set, causing a barcode to automatically be generated matching the Product Number and a second barcode to automatically be generated matching the Vendor Product#, for any rental or sale product newly added to the inventory file.
This is not required to utilize the scan as either the product number or barcode can be scanned. This is useful to provide the ability to print a barcode using the product number of the product.

Note: Because barcodes can also be used to identify or enter products manually or via scanner on a document, the barcode cannot be the same as any other product number or barcode number in the system
A warning is triggered if a duplicate would be created by this "automatic" create barcode from Vendor Product# action, and the new barcode is not created.

Barcode Update Utilities:
The utility Update Barcodes provides quick access to the barcode fields, where existing barcodes can be reviewed, and codes may be added or deleted in this program. If an existing barcode needs to be changed, delete the record and re-add it correctly.
The utility Write Product # Into Barcode can be used to write the product number to the corresponding barcode table if no barcodes exist for that product.
The Inventory Clean-Up utility can also be used to import up to 10 barcodes for each product.

Printing Barcodes:
Barcodes can be printed for Customer Barcode Labels, and for Product Barcode Labels.
The option to print new Product barcode labels is also offered when new product records are created, in Pickup Ticket return, and in Warehouse Receiving, as configured in the Company Inventory Parameters.

There are two approaches available for printing Barcode labels, that can be configured in the Barcode Parameters settings of the Company Inventory Parameters by the Use Zebra Barcode Printers flag:

  1. Standard Zebra printers are often used for printing Barcode labels and printer setup can be configured in Zebra Barcode Printers, but this functionality is not available on Open Client sessions or in the SaaS environments.
  2. Barcode labels can be printed to PDF using Jasper forms as setup for customers and products in the Label Form Mappings.

Note: Though multiple barcodes can be assigned to each product, only the first barcode setup in this table that does not match the product number, is printed on the label.
If no barcode exists for a product in this table then the product number is printed in "barcode" format on the label.
