G/L Date Range Checking

General Ledger Overview Information Guide ->

Texada SRM is date sensitive, meaning that the date selected for the entry will be the date posted.
All entries are automatically indexed by date selected, and need not reflect when the entry was made or when the posting report was actually run.

The date sensitivity of the system has both pros and cons. If an entry MUST be made into a prior period it can be accomplished easily. However, if a month or year is balanced and closed, careful control can be maintained to prevent date errors posting into "closed" periods.
This is regulated with the Date Range Control feature that provides the ability to set the date ranges allowed when making General Ledger entries.

These General Ledger Payable programs use date range checking:

Miscellaneous G/L Journals
Post Standard Journals
G/L Manual Checks
G/L Computer Checks

To activate the date range checking:

  1. In Operators uncheck the Date Range Override flag for relevant operators that should always respect the valid date range.
  2. In Date Range Control set the date ranges to the current month for the desired programs.
For the G/L set the date ranges for G/L MANUAL CHECKS, and G/L MISC JOURNALS.
If a month is too restricting, use 45 to 60 days for the range instead.
