Capturing Dates and Times

Getting Started Overview Information Guide -> Capturing Dates and Times
DATES:
SRM Software permits two different formats for entering the date:

European (DD/MM/YYYY) or North American (MM/DD/YYYY)

Before any data is entered, determine which format your firm will use and establish the date option in Company Information.
Once information has been entered using the chosen date format, do NOT change this format, as some existing dates will remain in their original format and will NOT be converted.

Note: Do not enter the slashes when entering a date, as they are inserted automatically when the field is accepted.

YEARS:
The Year is stored in the software as 4 digits, however when entering the year, usually only the last two digits are required.

When a 2 digit year is entered, the "50 Year Rule" applies.

Note: If a year needs to be entered, that does not fit this rule, then the 4 digit year must be entered.
e.g. For a birth date in the year 1965, the 4 digit year should be entered.

TIMES
When entering a time, such as a TIME OUT, the time always displays in the 24 hour format (14:30:00 equals 2:30 PM), and includes the seconds.
(The seconds can be ignored.)

The current time displays, which can be overridden. Follow these rules:
