Product Status Code Overview

Inventory Overview Information Guide -> Product Status Code Overview

Sometimes certain rental equipment is included in the Rental Fleet, but at times it should not be available for rent and/or should not be depreciated, and/or should not be transferred to a different division, or it should not be included in inventory availability calculations.
These programs allow specific rental inventory assets to be flagged as Not ready to rent, or Not to be depreciated, or Not available for transfer, or just Not available, and a warning message of your choice can be generated when an operator does attempt to transfer or rent them.

Non-bulk rental products can be flagged to update the Status Code when entered for service on a W.O.
Specific non-bulk rental products can be flagged to update or to prompt to update the Status Code when returned or exchanged, by including the equipment in Auto Status Code Update By Product or in Auto Status Code Update By Group.
Depending on the new status code assigned at rental return or exchange, a W.O. can automatically be generated if a customer has damaged a unit, or the equipment always requires service, as controlled in Status Code Actions By Group.
A service Check List can be manually or automatically generated at the return or exchange, with service or maintenance instructions according to the division and the product status code.
If no W.O. was generated the updated status code from a return or exchange can be set to automatically change back after an elapsed time has passed, to make the product available for rental again.
This would be useful if equipment needs a set time to be cleaned after each rental before being available again.

Changes to the product Status Code can be viewed in Status Code Change History.

Activating the Product Status code options for Non-Bulk Rentals:
The following apply only to non-bulk rental products.
Refer to the note at the end of this page regarding bulk rental items.

Note for Bulk rental products:
Bulk rental products can be set up by group to use the Time Delay feature in Status Code Actions By Group.
This would be useful if you have bulk rental products that require cleaning or some type of service before they are available to rent again. This processing makes only the quantity returned or exchanged unavailable for the specified time period.
Automatic status code changes are NOT performed for bulk items. Instead the Time Delay is based on the status code setting in Rental Inventory.
A window will open displaying the items that are unavailable as well as the delay time which can be modified by the operator.
Bulk Item Delay Records displays items not yet available because the time delay has not expired.
