Freight Price Codes

Special rates for freight can be maintained in this Freight Price Codes window in the "Rental Rates & Pricing" parameters on the Operations tab of the Configure System Settings.
An operator must be assigned a Security Role that allows permission to the Operations - Freight Price Codes in order to access this table.

Freight Codes can be setup for product groups with special delivery/pickup rates to be given to specified customers.
For example special Freight Price Codes could be required for contractors.
Once setup for the relevant product groups, the freight codes can be assigned to customers in the "Additional Information" window of Customer Information, and/or to divisions in the Divisional Delivery/Pickup Parameters.

If a customer should always get free delivery and pickup then setup a Freight Price Code for free delivery/pickup, including all groups, with no charge in each of the delivery and pickup fields. Then assign the freight price code in the Customer Information.

The prompts to setup a Freight Price Code are:

FREIGHT CODE

Enter a freight code using up to 4 alpha/numeric characters.
A blank Freight Code cannot be entered.

A window is provided to view and select from any existing Freight Codes, as outlined in Freight Code Search.

DESCRIPTION

Enter the description of the Freight Code.
e.g. CONTRACTOR FREIGHT PRICES

Freight Details by Group:
List all the Groups and rates to be included in this freight price code.

GROUP

Enter the relevant group code or select one from the Groups Search window.

DESCRIPTION

The group description displays.

DELIVERY CHARGE

Enter the delivery charge to be applied for products in this Group in this Freight Price Code.
If a group is listed, but this field is left blank, then delivery for products in this group is free when this freight price code is applied.

PICKUP CHARGE

Enter the pickup charge to be applied for products in this Group in this Freight Price Code.
If a group is listed, but this field is left blank, then the pickup for products in this group is free when this freight price code is applied.

MINIMUM

This field is skipped if the group freight charge is a flat rate and is NOT accumulative by quantity, as determined in Groups.

Leave this field blank if this group does NOT use a minimum freight charge.
Enter the minimum freight charge to be applied when freight charges are accumulated by quantity. The minimum charge is useful for piece items like scaffolding.

ACTIONS:
Additional actions provided by buttons on the Freight Price Codes screen include:

• Add all Groups to a Freight Code:
  Click the UPDATE button to update the freight charge information and to use the utility to automatically add Groups to that Freight Price Code, as outlined in Update Freight Price Code.

• Delete a Freight Price Code:
  The DELETE button is only active when the role assigned to the operator in Operators has permission to delete freight price codes.
  The role permission is setup in Security Roles on the Security tab of Configure System Settings.

  Click the DELETE button and then select a Freight Price Code from the window.
  The delete program checks if the Freight Price Code has been assigned to any customers in the "Additional Information" window of Customer Information, and/or to any divisions in the Divisional Delivery/Pickup Parameters.
  These are identified on the screen.

  Confirmation is required to complete the deletion.
  If the Freight Price Code is deleted, it is also removed from these customer and division records.
