Delete A Product Group

System Maintenance Menu -> Configure System Settings -> Operations Tab -> Inventory -> Product Groups -> DELETE button -> Delete A Product Group

This delete Group utility checks that the group is not in use prior to deleting it, and can be accessed from the DELETE button in GROUPS.

Tight control can be maintained on which operators are able to delete groups, by controlling the permissions on the roles assigned to Operators.
Refer to the Security Roles setup on the Security tab of Configure System Settings for more information.

The delete utility confirms that there are no products, reservations, or rental quotes assigned to the group to ensure that all product bookings are accurate, and the integrity of the product file is maintained.
The prompts are:

GROUP #
Enter the Group number to be deleted, or look it up in the window.

Delete?
Click ACCEPT to proceed with the delete.

OK
If there are no conflicts, a confirmation message is triggered.
Click ACCEPT to proceed with the delete process or CANCEL to abort.
A record is written to Delete Log to track the deleted Group. This deletion record is identified as function RSGF99C. The operator code, the Group, and the date are tracked.

CONFLICTS
If there are conflicts, the information pop-up warns that the group is in use and cannot be deleted.
The screen displays the product #, reservation and rental quote, that require the group record.

To resolve the conflicts preventing the group from being deleted:

PRODUCT #
If a product number is identified, use Change Group on Product to assign the product to a new group before this group can be deleted.

RESERVATION #
If a reservation # is identified, delete the group from the reservation using Reservations before this group can be deleted.

RENTAL QUOTE #
If a quote number is identified, delete the group from the quote using Quotations before this group can be deleted.

TIER 1 RATES
If the group is setup to provide special Tier 1 rates for a customer, remove the group from the customer's Multi-Tiered Customer Special Pricing window before this group can be deleted.

Note: Restructure Class/Group/Rates/Tag - Groups/Rates option can also be used to identify and delete unused Groups.
