Change Group on Product


Utilities Menu -> Inventory Control -> -> Update Class/Group/Vendor on Product -> GROUP -> Change Group on Product

Because Groups cannot be changed for existing products in Sales Inventory or Rental Inventory, this utility can be used to change the Group on a single product, or on all products in a Product Class.

The Group is usually defined for a product when entering inventory.
If a group was not specified, then Group # __ (blank) UNASSIGNED will be selected by default.
The 'Unassigned' Group is a special group which is ignored for the purposes of Group Bookings, and many other features of Groups.
For the Group on a product to have any significance, assign the item to a proper Group.

When this program is used to change the Group, all bookings made for that product are also altered, so that all Group inquiries including the Group Availability will be correctly updated.

TYPE
Select one of the following methods of selecting the products to be updated:
  • Select Class to change the Group on all products within a specific Product Class.
  • Select Product to change the Group for a single specific product.

PRODUCT #
This field is enabled when the Group is to be changed for a single product.
Enter the product number requiring a change of Group, or it up in the Inventory Search window.

CLASS
This field is enabled when all the products in a Group are to be changed.
Type in the desired product class number, or look it up in the Product Class Search window.

GROUP #
If a single product is to be changed, the current Group number assigned to this product will display.
If all products in a class are to be changed this field will be blank as there could be multiple Groups assigned.

Enter the new Group number to be assigned to the products, or select it in the Group Search window.


Finished?
Click ACCEPT to proceed, or CANCEL to abort.

Note: When accepted, the selected Group with any Contract or Reservation booking requirements is updated for these products, and the change is tracked in the Audit Log.
